NEW Exhibition "Pith" by Alan Ward

Embark on a captivating voyage through the extraordinary mind of Rotherham artist Alan Ward at the NEW exhibition, "Pith," at thirdspace gallery in Rotherham Market.

In 1979, a turning point in Alan Ward's life occurred when he fell ill. Amidst the turmoil and anguish of his sickness, he discovered solace in the creation of illustrations that became his artistic refuge. These captivating works, unseen by the public for four decades, will be unveiled for the first time in this exhibition.

Having retired for over a decade and having undergone edification treatment, Alan is registered as visually impaired and battles kidney failure. Throughout the years, his artwork has evolved within the recesses of his mind, forming a collection that delves into the profound depths of human cognition. Known collectively as "PITHS," these pieces embody the intricate workings of the brain, magnifying thoughts and sensations.

Alan Ward, reflecting on his art, shares the following words: "At last, art that has no date to define and was born through movement and trauma and anguish. I am your art servant, Alan. Keep your eye on this area. Ta."

We invite you to witness the culmination of Alan's creative journey and engage with the profound queries that permeate his artwork. This exhibition promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche and its expressions through art.
